First Blog Entry - Is this thing on? / [ Audio ]

( OOC: Back-dated to the morning of the 17th )

[ John's been trying to locate the microphone on the journal for the last five minutes and, for the last two or so, there's a fluctuation of the feed as the book shuts and reopens. Sod it. Sally seemed to have heard him well enough when he was speaking into the open pages before, and it's already proved to be sensitive to written transmissions.

Rainfall is a distant sound. ]

Right, ehm. Good morning, Luceti.

My name is John Watson and I've a few questions, specifically toward the medical situation we've got here. I'm at your clinic, looking over the equipment and the pharmacy. There seems to be a rather, well, shocking imbalance between the advancement of your technology in medical tools and the drugs you've got.

I'm aware there's a hospital somewhere, but is there anyone about that wouldn't mind speaking about the health care they've been receiving here? If anyone could also direct me to the current Chief of Medicine -well, any authority figure between the clinic and the hospital, really- I'd be grateful.

[ Is anyone even in charge around here? It seems as dangerous to make an assumption that there is a hierarchy in place than to think there's not one. ]

Oh, I could tell you about it! The care at the clinic is really wonderful; I had to stay there a few days when my wings was removed, and sometimes I check in to make sure my health is well.

Oh, just one! It was, um... torn off, so I had to wait for a new one to grow back in... It was during the last draft we'd had. Everyone was very accommodating and professional.

There isn't technically a hospital here--there's the clinic in town and the clinic in the battledome. Are you at the village clinic right now? I'm Dr. Everett Willock and I've been employed here for a few months, and on average I've found the equipment and drugs available to be adequate. [But then again, he's from 1952. He was amazed just to see that antivirals and antifungals were around.]

If you do have concerns, I'd be happy to discuss them with you and forward them to Dr. Mizuno or Dr. Law.

Most of the healing here is done by magic.

[ Short and simple - she assumes that's what he means by the imbalance between tools and drugs? This woman's definitely no doctor, but her mother was, and Lightning was familiar enough with the equipment back 'home' even independently of that to know that what is in the clinics here is noticeably less advanced than what she was once used to... ]

As far as I am aware, there is not much in the way of organization when it comes to the medicinal field.

But I have not been here long myself, and only spoken with one medical professional. A Doctor Wilock, whom I would recommend you speak with as well.

No hospital, actually, just two clinics. You'll want doctor Trafalgar Law at the Battle Dome clinic or Doctor Ami Mizuno asst the village clinic.

I would be happy to answer as many of your questions as I can, sir.

... U-Unfortunately... there is no o-organized health care system, here in L-Luceti.

[Robert would prefer an organized structure, but it's almost impossible what with the fluctuation of people in the village.]

H-However. There are... multiple medical p-professionals, and the Battle Dome C-Clinic's provisions are significantly more advanced.

Still... a-archaic, but we do what we m-must...

Doctor Temperance Brennan.

Prior to my arrival here, I worked at the Jeffersonian Institute as a forensic anthropologist, also liaised to the F.B.I.

You're at the clinic in the village right? The technology in the Battle Dome clinic is more advanced than in the village one. Every time I've been there though, I've been well taken care of.

[And Selphie's been there quite a bit.]

From what I understand a lot of the work here is done through magic and the spirit Nala, though the clinic seems to support treatment through medicine and other traditional methods as well as magic.

[He imagines the clinic here must be at least staffed by someone, so it's a little shocking to hear someone just went in and looked at the condition of things.]

I'm assuming you yourself are a doctor?

There are many people here, including myself, who use healing magic, and we offer it freely. Though I think getting an actual medical hospital up and running would be fantastic. I don't know anything about the medical field, but I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

[John Watson... could it actually be the John Watson? She'll have to find out]

Aside from the treatment used in the clinics, most people are capable of using magic they either obtained in this world, or their own.

Mm... the memory is a little cloudy, but. I was helping with food and medicine at the camp, during the draft. We were all underground, in some sort of cave, and--well, I suppose the Third Party broke through the wall and came after us.

I was attacked by one of them, but I was lucky enough to have someone nearby to help me.

[...Hold a second. John Watson? John Watson? Okay, could be a coincidence, never know. Lots of Johns and Watsons in the world.]

Dependable. There's a regular staff and volunteers that help out at all hours, and many around here have abilities to aid with healing. Nala, the filial spirit of healing, very popular choice when people are just learning magic.

Learned a few months back. I know, magic, hard idea to swallow. I was once a disbeliever too.
